Is any AI used when you create your art?

May 15, 20261 min read

We’re often asked: is any AI used when you create your art? Our answer in one word is “No, not at all.” Below is our answer in more detail.

Artificial Intelligence seems to be conquering the world. Or, at a minimum, that's what the media wants us to believe.

Every ad we see now, everywhere we look, there is that AI look and feel.

Even in writing! (Not this article, of course.)

So an obvious question you might be wondering—if I were you and didn’t know us—is the following: Do you make your art by hand? Or just push some buttons on some AI?

Well, we come down strongly on that issue: Here at Oneg Rabbi Fine Art, we are old-fashioned and do 100% of our art by hand. Sometimes on an iPad (the iPad app Procreate is one of our favorites to draw on), sometimes by hand then we do high quality scans. But always by hand.

Why? For a few reasons:

Because we’re artisanal.

Because we’re old-fashioned (we are an orthodox Minián, after all!).

Because we think AI art is pretty low-quality.

Because we think that art, writing, creativity helps reveal our true nefesh, the core of our human creativity.

Of course, it is the modern world so we still do use AI. Not for our art, nor for our articles or content, for example. But we use it in some standard ways, like spell-checking and—gulp—translations. Yes, we do a lot of Spanish/English and English/Spanish translations in these parts.

Do you have any questions about our art? Drop us a note and ask us anything!
